Beyond Proverbs 31 – The Role of Women

Our model Scriptures when it comes to how we should live our lives as women is often restricted to Proverbs 31. If we stretch that a bit, we can mention Ephesians 5.

Should my role as a woman only be limited to these portions of Scripture. By the way, these only address married women. So, what should a single woman do? Nothing?

No wonder our society makes us feel like your life as a single person is only a life in transit – just marking time until a man comes into the picture.

But, the Bible never limited the purpose a woman is to serve to their Marital Status.

Looking through the entire Bible, I simply did not find anywhere where it states that without marriage a woman cannot walk in her God Given Purpose and Destiny.

All the great women who achieved awesome things for God didn’t do them because they were married. The names of their husbands may have been mentioned but they did awesome things for God in their own right.

For instance, Deborah stood as a Judge in Israel. I didn’t find it recorded anywhere that she was in that position because her husband had anything to do with it. In fact nothing about domestic activities was mentioned about her.

Another example, on the heels of the Deborah’s Story, was Jael who defeated Sisera. She single handedly finished off an enemy without fear. A courgeous woman indeed.

We can find so many examples like that through Scriptures.

Why do we think that the measure of a woman should be about how much time she spends tending a home?

So, Dear Daughter of God, do not limit your calling or your purpose to your marriage. If the Lord has called you to undertake a journey into purpose, it’s because He knows there’s Grace and strength for that level.

Live your life like any other child of God. Don’t let marriage, children (or the lack of them) hinder you from entering into the fullness of God’s plans.

Live Your life beyond Proverbs 31! You are first a Child of God.

You Stayed For Me!

There’s Never an Excuse for Domestic Violence. Never One…

Moms Achieving Purpose

“You Stayed For Me”

This was what you said when he talked you down repeatedly, when he verbally abused you time and again, when he hit you for the umpteenth time, and your eyes took turns to be black, sometimes both at a time, when he gave you a torn lip. This was the word on your lips even when you became a shadow of yourself with a persistent gloom in your eyes, and your face an expression of the unspoken question of when it would all end. It was what you said, through the pain on your arm and sides, when you lay in your hospital bed.

You always said this through the many wounds I’ve seen on your body. I remember once asking what happened to your arm, and you said you’d slipped in the bathroom. You forgot that just the other night I was banging my fists…

I Don’t Believe This!!!

“The daughters of Zelophehad showed up. Their father was the son of Hepher son of Gilead son of Makir son of Manasseh, belonging to the clans of Manasseh son of Joseph. The daughters were Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah. They came to the entrance of the Tent of Meeting. They stood before Moses and Eleazar the priest and before the leaders and the congregation and said, “Our father died in the wilderness. He wasn’t part of Korah’s rebel anti- God gang. He died for his own sins. And he left no sons. But why should our father’s name die out from his clan just because he had no sons? So give us an inheritance among our father’s relatives.” Moses brought their case to God . God ruled: “Zelophehad’s daughters are right. Give them land as an inheritance among their father’s relatives. Give them their father’s inheritance. “Then tell the People of Israel, If a man dies and leaves no son, give his inheritance to his daughter. If he has no daughter, give it to his brothers. If he has no brothers, give it to his father’s brothers. If his father had no brothers, give it to the nearest relative so that the inheritance stays in the family. This is the standard procedure for the People of Israel, as commanded by God through Moses.”
Numbers 27:1-11 MSG

Anytime I read this story, it baffles me.
You mean even God knew that daughters could inherit their father and He didn’t say anything to Moses or to those before him before this time?
I find it amazing that something that was a valid desire, an acceptable longing, was there for so long and no one thought it was fine to ask for it.

You mean God was waiting for them to get up and stand up for what belongs to them? Something generations before them had suffered for?
You can imagine that some female children would have been thrown into penury following their Father’s Death simply because they didn’t want to rock the boat. Some girl must have gone hungry because they needed to stay politically correct, they didn’t want anyone to label them the Rebels of the society!
But it was fine to be disinherited, it was fine to go hungry, it was fine to go begging because you had nothing, even though your father died rich?

These 5 ladies refused to follow the norm. They didn’t care what anyone thought of them. They believed the laws should change and they demanded just that.

The fact that God sees Something as being right for you does not mean you will have it.
If you don’t get up, make a move, rock some boats, you will not get things done!

So, dear Sister, what are those legitimate desires you have?

Those valid dreams, those great ideas you will like to see happen?
You need to press into God today and have them delivered to you.
It’s your right, it’s your inheritance. Even God will be delighted to hand them over!

Have a wonderful Day Sisters.

Oluseye.

2016 Starts Now – Prayers for The New Year Day 16

“When Isaac planted his crops that year, he harvested a hundred times more grain than he planted, for the LORD blessed him. He became a very rich man, and his wealth continued to grow. He acquired so many flocks of sheep and goats, herds of cattle, and servants that the Philistines became jealous of him. So the Philistines filled up all of Isaac’s wells with dirt. These were the wells that had been dug by the servants of his father, Abraham.

Finally, Abimelech ordered Isaac to leave the country. “Go somewhere else,” he said, “for you have become too powerful for us.”

So Isaac moved away to the Gerar Valley, where he set up their tents and settled down. He reopened the wells his father had dug, which the Philistines had filled in after Abraham’s death. Isaac also restored the names Abraham had given them.

Isaac’s servants also dug in the Gerar Valley and discovered a well of fresh water. But then the shepherds from Gerar came and claimed the spring. “This is our water,” they said, and they argued over it with Isaac’s herdsmen. So Isaac named the well Esek (which means “argument”). Isaac’s men then dug another well, but again there was a dispute over it. So Isaac named it Sitnah (which means “hostility”). Abandoning that one, Isaac moved on and dug another well. This time there was no dispute over it, so Isaac named the place Rehoboth (which means “open space”), for he said, “At last the LORD has created enough space for us to prosper in this land.” – Genesis 26;12-22

We are halfway gone with our Prayers for 2016.

If you’re yet to take these prayers seriously, I’ll suggest you do that soon and also, kindly invite your friends to be a part of it.

Today, we continue with prayers from the same chapter of the Bible we prayed with yesterday.

  • Father, we are so grateful to You for Your numerous blessings upon our lives in the last 15 Days. We return all praise and adoration to You.
  • Lord, we acknowledge and know that the challenges of 2016 will come as we enter into a new level of prosperity and abundance in the next year.
  • So, we ask for Grace to keep moving in the face of the numerous challenges that may come our way. We ask for a new level of grace never to give up.
  • Lord, every source of supply that has dried up or that has been stopped by the enemy, I declare that they begin to open up right now in Jesus name.
  • When we see the enemy trying to cut short Your blessings and breakthroughs, help us to keep digging and to keep waging war against the enemy.
  • Lord, we pray that You will take us from the level of just enough to a new level if more than enough room.
  • Lord, I declare that I am stepping into my Rehoboth in Jesus name.
  • I cease from every struggle and from every form of oppression of the enemy
  • Lord, I silence every contending force against my life, my home, work, my family… (insert as applicable) in Jesus name.
  • Lord, settle and establish me on every side.
  • Nothing and no one will stop me from moving into the level of blessing and grace You have set out for me in Jesus name.
  • Thank You Lord because You have heard and answered as we have prayed in Jesus name.

We Continue tomorrow by His Grace.

2016 Starts Now – Day 15 (Prayers For The New Year )

“Now there was a famine in the land—besides the previous famine in Abraham’s time—and Isaac went to Abimelek king of the Philistines in Gerar. The Lord appeared to Isaac and said, “Do not go down to Egypt; live in the land where I tell you to live. Stay in this land for a while, and I will be with you and will bless you. For to you and your descendants I will give all these lands and will confirm the oath I swore to your father Abraham. I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and will give them all these lands, and through your offspringa all nations on earth will be blessed, because Abraham obeyed me and did everything I required of him, keeping my commands, my decrees and my instructions.” So Isaac stayed in Gerar. – Genesis 26:1-6

  • With gratitude in our hearts for the past 14 days, Lord, we come before Your throne of grace. And we say thank You Lord. Thank You for answered prayers. We appreciate You Lord for the great and mighty things You have done and will still do.
  • We are extremely grateful for Your Love towards us. Take all the Glory Lord.
  • Father I ask that in 2016, I receive grace to follow Your every instruction.
  • I will only go where Your favour and hand of mercy will go with me. I will not walk into error in Jesus name.
  • Lord, You know where all the blessings are, please lead me in the way that I should go.
  • The strategy I require to avoid and overcome every situation of famine in the coming year, I declare that I receive them in Jesus name.
  • I will not live in lack in Jesus name.
  • In my place of assignment, I will be blessed in Jesus name.
  • Where You have prepared for me, I will see Your hand and I ask You will bless me in Jesus name.
  • I locate my place of blessing and in that place I will enjoy increase and a breaking forth in Jesus name.
  • Thank You for answered prayers as I pray in Jesus name.

Tomorrow is another time in God’s presence.

2016 Starts Now – Day 14 (Prayers For The New Year )

“One day the widow of a member of the group of prophets came to Elisha and cried out, “My husband who served you is dead, and you know how he feared the LORD. But now a creditor has come, threatening to take my two sons as slaves.”

“What can I do to help you?” Elisha asked. “Tell me, what do you have in the house?” “Nothing at all, except a flask of olive oil,” she replied.

And Elisha said, “Borrow as many empty jars as you can from your friends and neighbors. Then go into your house with your sons and shut the door behind you. Pour olive oil from your flask into the jars, setting each one aside when it is filled.”

So she did as she was told. Her sons kept bringing jars to her, and she filled one after another. Soon every container was full to the brim! “Bring me another jar,” she said to one of her sons.

“There aren’t any more!” he told her. And then the olive oil stopped flowing.

When she told the man of God what had happened, he said to her, “Now sell the olive oil and pay your debts, and you and your sons can live on what is left over.” – 2 Kings 4:1-7

  • Thank You Lord for Days 1 to 13.
  • We can testify to Your goodness and your grace. Take all the Glory Lord.
  • Father, I pray for your overflowing abundance in the next year.
  • I declare that I have more than enough in Jesus name.
  • I will not lack anything that is good. Lord, You will surpass all my expectations in Jesus name.
  • Lord, multiply the little I have in my hand. Expand it and cause me to enjoy more than enough on every level in Jesus name.
  • Whenever any situation that can bring shame comes my way, Lord show up for me in Jesus name.
  • Let me never be disgraced in Jesus name. Please show up for me in every tight corner in Jesus name.
  • Help me never to limit you in my mind in Jesus name. As I open my vessels Lord, cause them to be filled to overflowing in Jesus name.
  • Help me to trust You to take me into a new level of abundance in Jesus name.
  • Thank you Lord because I know that from now on, I will receive a new level of favour in Jesus name.
  • So shall it be for me in Jesus name.
  • We receive answers to our prayers with thanksgiving in Jesus name

2016 Starts Now – Day 13 (Prayers For The New Year )

“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men. “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. – Matthew 5:13-16

  • Thank You Lord for the past 12 Days of Your Grace and mercy. We return all Glory to You Lord.
  • Today, Lord our heart cry is that from this day and as we journey into the next year, make us people of relevance.
  • Father, we pray that our lives will make a difference to others.
  • Lord, we refuse to be content with getting blessed. We move to the level of being a blessing unto others.
  • Father, we pray that our lights will shine and penetrate every darkness around us in Jesus name.
  • We Pray that our lives will bring You glory and that we will truly be salt in Jesus name.
  • We ask that we will never be trampled underfoot because we refuse to be used for Your glory in Jesus name.
  • I shall not become tasteless and my light will not be overshadowed by darkness.
  • I declare that I am a city set on a hill, and I will shine forth to remove every form of darkness round about me in Jesus name.
  • Lord, we are so grateful for the things You have done for us in the last 12 Days.  Take all of the Glory.
  • We have prayed receiving answers with thanksgiving in Jesus name.

2016 Starts Now – Day 12 (Prayers For The New Year )

“But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned by the Lord Jesus – the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful Grace of God.” – Acts 20:24

“I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more. You have already been pruned and purified by the message I have given you. Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me.

“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. Anyone who does not remain in me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers. Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned. But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted! When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father.” – John 15:1-8

  • Lord, we are so grateful for the things You have done for us in the last 11 Days. We are confident in Your ability to hear us and answer us.
  • Father, we come before You today and we ask that our lives will count for You in Jesus name.
  • Lord, in this next year, help me to be Spiritually fruitful in Jesus name. Help me to use my life for Your glory.
  • Father, help me not to be so consumed by my personal goals and desires that I forget the very reason for our existence.
  • Lord, cause my life to matter for Your use. Help me to be totally sold out for the things that matter to You.
  • Lord, I declare that I will bear fruits and those fruits will abide. I will populate Your kingdom in this next year Lord.
  • Help me to be committed to winning souls for Christ. Everywhere I find myself, I will be a shining example of a true child of God, that my life will bring sinners to the saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus.
  • Lord, I pray that I will not be cast away as unfruitful in Your Presence in Jesus name.
  • Anything in me that will not allow me to bear fruits as You want, Lord, please cleanse me and purge me from them all in Jesus name.
  • Thank you Lord because from now on, my life will continually bring pleasure to You in Jesus name.
  • We receive answers to our prayers with thanksgiving in Jesus name.

Have a Blessed Day Sisters.
